Happy Birthday, Blog!

Wow! One year ago today, I started this blog to record my misadventures with life, renovating, and food. This also means that we have owned our home for two years! I can't believe that much time has flown by and all that we have accomplished in year one and year two. I am excitedly looking forward to what year three has to offer.
In two years of owning our home, we completed a bathroom renovation, installed crown and shoe molding throughout the house, painted furniture in the living room, built a fence, garden and greenhouse. I have also fumbled my way through sewing projects including a dog bed (which is still in use after multiple washes!), swiffer mop head (no longer in use as we cleaned our former home way too hard. lol.), a fabric bag, textured fabric flowers, and a dog coat. I have also recorded 34 recipes from the Southern Living Cookbooks! And we have a few office favorites including the King Cake and Buttermilk Coffee Cake. My favorite remains the Giant Oatmeal Spiced Cookie. In the last year, I have also visited Oklahoma City and Taiwan and plan to do more traveling in the near future. Also, Her Majesty finally received a proper introduction.
We have celebrated birthdays, a wedding, and enjoyed time with family and friends. We have mourned over the passing of loved ones. While in the middle of projects for our current house, we took on updates on our former house. Life has been full of surprises and opportunities and we are so thankful for them. They may not have been things that we would have chosen and sometimes, even after reflection, continue to be things that we would never have dreamed of requesting, but these surprises and opportunities (challenges too!) are what helps us to grow and mature into the people we ought to be.
Now on to the important questions-
Will we ever finish our living room? Will we ever paint the kitchen cabinets? Will we finish sanding and painting the bedroom doors? (Yup, we have lived without bedroom or closet doors for about seventeen months now.) Will we ever find the perfect biscuit recipe? The adventures continue.
